The Underground Youth Club
This takes place on a Friday evening 7pm-9pm during school term times.
It is run by our youth worker along with a team of helpers and its vision is to provide a safe environment, where young people can meet up and enjoy one another’s company, without hanging around on the streets and being vulnerable to the wrong influences.
The main part of the Underground takes place in the church basement where there is a café area with a well stocked tuck shop. There is a large games room which has two full size pool tables and a lounge seating area. The young people are able to play their music using the iPod access, to the speakers.
Upstairs on the 1st floor there are two other rooms, one with table tennis and the other is a more quiet lounge area.
We have a policy of once inside the club no child will be able to leave unless permission is given by their parents, until they are collected at the end of the club. This is to enable the youth workers to ensure the safety of the young people in their care. Although the Underground is for all youth in Sittingbourne and is not a part of the church worship, we are of course, open to speaking about our faith to the young people who are interested.
