Preaching
SBC places a high priority on preaching as part of our worship service. Sermons have a strong biblical foundation and reverence towards the Holy Bible.
Preaching is centered around the current sermon series’ which typically last between four and eight weeks.
Preaching is primarily given by the minister, but also from a few others on the preaching rota.
SBC also has the pleasure on occasion of welcoming guest speaks from other churches.
Praise & Worship
Praise and Worship forms a key role in the life of our church. We have a good mix of singers and musicians whose endeavour is to lead the congregation in song and worship, during our Sunday morning Services.
Monthly Praise & Worship Evenings
Once every month the evening service is given over to Praise and Worship, led by members of the Worship Team. It is a combination of songs requested by members of the congregation and songs chosen by the Worship Team. Normally held on the 3rd Sunday of each month, you are welcome to join us in expressing our thanks to God in song.
The church provides an evening once a month, dedicated to just Praise and Worship. The evening is open to all, not just members of Sittingbourne Baptist Church.
Worship Co-ordinator
Ian Stride is the Worship Co-ordinator at SBC. The worship Co-ordinator oversees all aspects of worship in partnership with the Minister and leadership team.
Ian has been a long-standing member of Sittingbourne Baptist Church and part of the worship team for many years. Ian plays the piano and a long history as part of a choir.
Digging Deeper – Bible Study
To know the scriptures, is to know God’s will and grow as a Christian.
The words of God are everlasting and do not change.
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 (NKJV)
Are you hungry for God’s Word?
God has preserved the scriptures and provided them for our learning and edification. The scriptures teach us truths about God, his nature, and his creation. The teachings contained in the bible are our guide and equip us with everything we need as we go through life as Christians.
Residential Home Ministry
Services
We normally hold services at 2 residential homes in Sittingbourne,
- one on the last Wednesday afternoon
- one and 1 on the last Thursday morning of each month.
The Wednesday service starts at 2.30pm and we finish between 3 and 3.15pm and the Thursday morning one starts at 10.45am and finishes approximately 11.15am
Covid Safeguards and Restrictions
Since Covid we have been restricted to numbers in the team and at the moment we are allowed 4 people in the team.
We normally have a speaker, a leader and an accompanist for the hymns.
Some of the restrictions like mask wearing as we go in are still being applied but we don’t have to do lateral flow tests as we used to.
Well known and established
The activities coordinators at the homes are very good at getting the residents in to the service and we have some well known hymns, bible readings, prayers and an epilogue.
