Rev. Nathan Gordon
Minister
It’s a privilege to be a part of the team here at SBC.
Greetings in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ
I was born and raised in South East London, Catford (Lewisham Borough), and I have fond memories of growing up in London, which I often refer to in sermons. I am a massive football fan and supporter of Liverpool Football Club, and at one stage, I was bent on a career path in football, but God has other plans!
In 2016, God opened the door, and the members of SBC welcomed me as their Youth Pastor. After three years in the role, I have wonderful memories of seeing young people grow in their faith in Christ, baptisms and mature to be involved in the Church’s ministry. In 2019, after much prayer and support from the Church, I was commended by the ministerial recognition committee to train for Baptist ministry. I was blessed to train at the historic Spurgeon’s College in London, where I graduated in 2022. In the final year of my course, I was blessed to be called to serve as the Pastor here at SBC and was inducted and ordained in September 2022.
I am humbled by God’s grace, which has blessed the Church with fruit in many ways. We are a loving community that seeks to model Jesus’s love in every way and be faithful to the full gospel message of salvation for all. By God’s grace, we continue to see God glorified, the Church edified, and the Kingdom multiplied. I enjoy serving in ministry, building relationships, preaching the Gospel, and worshipping. I love old-school hymns but enjoy contemporary worship, too. In 2023, God allowed me to marry the love of my life, Mrs Anna Jaqueline Gordon, who is a tremendous blessing to me. If you are considering visiting SBC or would like to know more about the Church, please don’t hesitate to contact us. A warm welcome awaits!
Ricky Grosvenor
Youth Worker
Hi my name is Ricky and I am the youth worker here at Sittingbourne Baptist church. I was born and raised in South London and after a whirlwind of ups and downs throughout my teens and adulthood I finally meet with Jesus at a local Baptist church in Greenwich and then my journey took a massive change in direction and I have had the privilege to meet my wife and we now have two children together, travel the world on missions trips, serve in various leadership roles and share the gospel to around the world and within our local community.
My role at SBC is to engage with our youth and to help build them up in their faith and help bring them into a stronger, closer and more in-depth relationship with God by delivering sessions on a Sunday morning and throughout the week. This is made possible with the help of our fantastic youth volunteers. I work with young people in the community who also come to our youth group on a Friday night where we chill and have fun playing pool, FIFA and other fun activities. I engage with the local schools in the community sharing our faith and the hope we have in Christ, and this helps them in their religious education studies.
My hopes and prayers are to watch our wonderful youth grow in their relationship with God and see them develop their own gifts which they will use for their own ministries or when they are at school, college, university and work. My hope is to see the youth of the community find Jesus and to build strong networks with the local schools, churches and other organisations to help make out local community become a thriving place to live in and to bridge the gap between the youth and the rest of the community.
