Getting to know you

(John 17:25-26)

Whether you have been a Christian for years or you’ve just started on your spiritual journey, it’s a blessing to know that The Father is incredibly interested with his children getting to know him better. Today we are going to look at how Jesus made this possible and also some of the barriers and distractions that hinder us deepening our knowledge of who God is through Jesus Christ.

The Righteous Father – V25 “O Righteous Father”

– Perfect in all his ways, Just, Holy and without blemish. (Psalm 22:3)

– Our righteousness is the total opposite and we have all become like one who is unclean, and all of our righteous acts are like filthy rags. (Isaiah 64:6)

The World – v25 “The World hath not known thee…”

– The Sin of the first Adam brought separation

– The righteousness of the second Adam brought restoration (Rom 5:14, 1 Cor 15:45)

– The world’s system is not geared towards promoting a vibrant relationship with God (1 John 2:15-17)

The Disciples – v25 “And these have known that thou hast sent me”

The disciples came to the understanding of who the messiah was and from whom he was sent.

The final challenge – V26 “I have made your very being known to them…”
