As we reach the penultimate stage of our Who Cares sermon series this morning, we are looking at the consistency and faithfulness of God’s love. God within his very being is the perfect definition of love and the greatest example to follow.

In Psalm 136 we see a wonderful song that emphasizes the everlasting nature of God’s love. Repeatedly the psalm exalts in every verse – His Love Endures Forever.

The glory of God’s faithfulness is that no sin of ours has ever made Him unfaithful.

Falling in and out of love?

We live in a world whereby love can often be reduced to a feeling or a fleeting moment. People fall in love and fall out of love. relationships end because of unfaithfulness and sometimes our love for others can be challenged because of how we may have been treated. However, God’s love for us is not based on the world’s standards. God loved us even before we gave our lives to Him, and he continues to love us each day in the good times and bad. Yes, even when we sin the faithfulness of His love will always embrace us when we need picking up.

So, will God love you no matter what?

Let’s unpack this question through God’s word!

YES – because He loved us before we loved Him – v1-4

• What a beautiful thought to know God loved us before we decided to give our lives to Him.
• Paul reminds the church of their past! They were lost in Sin and dead in transgressions. = They were not at peace with God because of sin/ spiritually dead and lost.
• Despite going in the wrong direction, God’s great love for us was evident although we may not have recognized it.

YES – because His commitment of love is eternal – v5-7

• God does not withdraw His love from us, His love endures forever.
• He determined that we would sit in heavenly realms with our Savior, Jesus Christ. = How exciting that in the ages to come we have an assurance of Heaven because of God’s faithfulness.

YES – because He adopts us into His Family – v8-10 & Heb 12:4-13

• Unlike our natural families of whom we cannot choose, God decided to love us and welcome us into His kingdom family.
• Paul reminds the church in Ephesus they were invited into His family not by their own merit or good deeds.
• As our Heavenly Father there are times when He will discipline His children. – Heb 12:7 For what children is not disciplined by their father?
• Even when the Lord disciplines and corrects us His love remains for us. – Heb 12:6 because the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and He chastens everyone He accepts and His son.
